COURSE OBJECTIVES
  1. Students will be able to demonstrate two or three different primary routines.
  2. Students will have an initial understanding of basic offensive and defensive techniques.
  3. Students will develop physical flexibility, agility, stamina, coordination, strength and other qualities.
  4. They will have an understanding of the different features and styles of changquan.
TARGET AUDIENCE This course is designed for both adults and children with an interest in Chinese martial arts.
SESSION & COURSE DURATION One 1 hour 30 min session / week. 10 sessions total.

COURSE OUTLINE Lesson 1: Description of the basic skills.

Lesson 2: Learn the five steps of boxing technique.
(Bow stance, horse riding stance ...)
Lesson 3: Learn the first section of primary boxing.
(Commencing form to block fist and punch fist in horse-riding stance.)
Lesson 4: Learn and to try out offensive and defensive techniques.
(Chopping, kicking ...)
Lesson 5: Learn the second section of primary boxing.
(Push palm in bow stance to push with hook in bow stance.)
Lesson 6: Learn and to try out more offensive and defensive techniques.
(Pushing, holding ...)
Lesson 7: Learn the third section of primary boxing.
(Block fist and plant fist in empty stance.)
Lesson 8: Learn and to try out more offensive and defensive techniques.
(Planting, smashing, whipping ...)
Lesson 9: Learn the section four of primary boxing.
(Whip with both palm in bow stance to closing.)
Lesson 10: Review of changquan.
Please note that specific lesson plans may change depending on student level.
TEACHING APPROACH This course is primarily taught by students directly observing the instructors' movements, after which they are invited to imitate the movements while under observation by the instructors. Some sessions make use of video material to illustrate movements.
MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION This course is taught in English.
