The UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland currently comprises of eight full-time and one part-time staff, including three staff members provided by Hanban. The Institute is governed by the Executive Board, chaired by Dr. Philip Nolan, Deputy President of UCD.

BACKGROUND
Mr Francis Kane is a polymath from Belfast with an MA in English Language Teaching from Queens University and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Durham, where he also studied Latin, Ancient History and Archaeology. He has spent 7 years working for Irish and UK universities in China, designing and delivering foundation and transition programmes for Chinese students and researchers. At UCD, he coordinates The Irish Institute for Chinese Studies’ Pre-Masters Studies modules and contributes to research for the Confucius Institute.
