The UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland currently comprises of eight full-time and one part-time staff, including three staff members provided by Hanban. The Institute is governed by the Executive Board, chaired by Dr. Philip Nolan, Deputy President of UCD.

BACKGROUND
Professor Liu is an Associate Professor specialised in Chinese Martial Arts (Wushu) from the Capital Institute of Physical Education in Beijing [CIPE]. She is also a Seventh Duan Wei Master of Chinese Wushu in the Chinese Wushu Association.
She started training wushu at six years of age in a professional wushu school. Obtained Batchelors degree in Sports Educational Theory and Methods,specialised in martial arts, CIPE, Beijing – 1988. Certified as International Wushu Teacher by International Wushu Federation – 2000. Obtained Masters degree in Sports Education Theory and Methods, Beijing Sports University – 2001.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Associate professor (2004 to date). Director of Coaching, CIPE (1992 to 2005). She has travelled extensively, teaching on behalf of the Chinese Wushu Association, helping foreign countries develop Chinese Wushu. Authored several books on wushu, which form the basis of the modern syllabus. Invited by China Sports Publications Corporation to film for DVD the International Standard Competition Routines, which form the basis of international wushu competitions today, and filmed a variety of traditional arts for DVD also.
